It started out as a harmless hobby. I had no idea it would come to this!

History and Membership Information

A dozen founding members, who named their group of quilting friends, Calico Cut-Ups (CCU), became a Chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild (AQG) in October, 1989.

Calico Cut-Ups members support AQG by displaying their quilts and volunteering at the annual quilt show each spring, and by attending the spring and fall state-level meetings. As an AQG Chapter,  CCU has access to nationally renown quilt teachers as well as to the AQG traveling teachers.

The CCU roster averages about 30  members coming from the surrounding communities. Members share their talents informally as well as formally through scheduled classes that range from short demonstrations to multi-week courses.

In addition to annual dues from members, CCU hosts several fundraisers to support the rent for our meeting location and other expenses. Fundraisers, where the public is invited, have included house hops, quilt shows and auctions.

If you think you may be interested in joining CCU, or just want to see what we are all about, we’d love to have you visit us as a guest!  Feel free to attend any of our meetings and  just sign in as a guest at the membership table ( located right inside the main entrance of the meeting room).  If after 3 visits you decide you’d like to join, our Membership chairperson will be happy to  assist you or visit our Join Us page to sign up.

We encourage you to join us and get involved.  Take a class, join us on a retreat, help out one of our Chair persons or offer to teach a class.  Also, let us hear your ideas, in any areas where we can help.  We are open to your suggestions.

If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to contact us via the information on the Contact Us page of this Website.
